You guys, this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I've ever used! They're buttery and soft, and SO easy to make.
Let's get right to it.
Ingredients:

8 tablespoons of salted butter (melted)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chocolate chips (but I always add more!)
To Make:
1. Preheat the oven at 350 degrees. Melt the butter in the microwave for about 40 seconds.
2. With a mixer, beat the butter with the sugars until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla. Beat on low speed for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Pro tip: Crack the egg into a separate bowl before adding to your mixture. This will help eliminate any egg shell that may have slipped into your bowl.

3. Add the flour, salt and baking soda. Mix until everything is completely incorporated.
4. Add chocolate chips. Mix with your hands or a spatula. Roll the dough into balls. With this dough I am able to make about 15 cookies. Or, you can make really big cookies!
Pro tip: Be sure to put the dough on parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. My favorite is this Silpat Premium Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat.

5. Bake in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes. They will look soft when you pull them out, that's ok, that's what makes them so soft!
6. Let them cool on the baking sheet for at least 30 minutes.

I get so many compliments on these cookies. They are truly heavenly! I hope you enjoy them as much as my family does.

If you make a batch, please be sure to tag Motherhood: Not by the books in your post!
Enjoy!
