Hi all! I'm Lauren (Rauth) Catron and I've decided to start a blog. Because, why not? (Thanks quarantine!)
My goal for this blog is to provide an outlet to talk all things motherhood, share book reviews and tasty recipes, travel tips and ideas, and family-friendly events in northwest Missouri.
A little bit about myself...
I was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. I'm the youngest of three and the only girl. In 2011, I graduated from the University of Missouri (MIZ!) with a bachelor of journalism with an emphasis in magazine writing and editing, and a minor in sociology.
I worked in broadcast journalism for several years in the St. Joseph, Little Rock and Kansas City markets before eventually leaving the industry and moving back to St. Joe. I have worked at Hillyard, Inc. for the last six years and am currently the marketing communications specialist.
In 2014 I met the most incredibly handsome man, yes on Tinder, can you believe that? I knew almost immediately I was going to marry Drew Catron. Eleven months later during a family vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida, he asked me to marry him! We were married on October 15, 2016. Fun fact, the date is known as the "sweetest day," a day to share romantic deeds or expressions, and acts of charity and kindness.

In March of 2018, we welcomed our son Henry Wade into the world! He was a little guy, coming in at a whopping 5 pounds, 10 ounces and 18 and a half inches long. Today, he's an ornery toddler who loves all things animals, and his mama.
Together, the three of us live just north of town with our two dogs, Sophie and Oshie.
My family means the entire world to me and that's where the majority of my time and energy go. My husband and my mom are my best friends and I'm so grateful for their love and support during this season of life.
When I'm not chasing around a toddler, Drew and I are trying to get through the second season of Yellowstone. I also have rediscovered my love of reading and have made it my goal to read 15 books this year. I am ahead of schedule and am currently reading number 15 right now!!! My goal is to share my reviews of the books I'm reading.
Fact: I cannot live without my family, coffee, podcasts, Target runs and Amazon Prime.
My parenting style is considered "attached" or as some call it, "crunchy" in the mom community. We baby wear, cosleep, and breastfeed. We're working (that's worded loosely) on weaning, and at some point I will probably have a blog post on that!! I don't think there is a right or wrong way to parent, it's what's best for the parents and child(ren).
When I was pregnant with Henry, I read a ton of books and did a lot of research of "what to expect" and how to be a good mother. Fast-forward nine months later, and all that knowledge goes out the window. Don't get me wrong, we tried those things, but they just didn't work for us. And I was so anxious and frustrated with why it wasn't working. In the end, I said the heck with the books, I'm doing what feels right for us. Our main goal as parents is to raise a good human being and ensure that they always feel loved. That's it.
My belief is that empowered moms empower other moms. Or as the saying goes, empowered women, empower women. This will be a judgement-free zone.

If you've made it this far, THANK YOU! I appreciate you for taking the time to visit. If you have any blog post suggestions or questions about anything I've posted, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds!
Let's not forget the pups!...
XOXO
Lauren
